Art Exhibit, Phoenix Rising: Margery Pearl Gurnett

Opening: Friday, October 2, 5 to 7 pm Exhibition: October 2 through November 1 In December of 2022, I suffered a devastating studio fire that destroyed everything. Out of this experience, I developed a new body of work. This exhibition will showcase the best work I’ve created since the fire — mixed-media resin pieces alongside paintings. It is both personal and universal: a testament to resilience, renewal, and the human ability to rise from loss toward possibility. There are rare moments when everything inside stills and breaks open. Not with storm, but with truth. Not with clamor, but with clarity. This is that moment. The threshold born in the act of making. The breath between who I thought I was and who I dared to become — something wild, something free. These artworks rose out of that fracture. They were not composed, but summoned. Not polite explanations, but urgent demands. The creative self breaking its own continuum — color spilling as revelation, form embracing emotion, canvas, paper, glass and paint igniting as places where spirit refuses its cage. This is me — unbound, unfiltered, a phoenix rising.
