Terms of Service
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Finger Lakes Event Guide is a free community calendar operated by Finger Lakes Effect. By using the site or submitting an event, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Free listings, optional paid promotion
The site is free to browse, and listing your event is free. We don't take commissions and there is no paywall. Organizers can choose to pay to promote an event with an Event Boost (see below). Paying never affects whether your event is approved.
Listings are at our discretion
We review every submission before publishing it. We can accept, reject, edit, or remove any event listing at any time, for any reason, without notice. A listing is not guaranteed, and inclusion on the site is not an endorsement.
What you warrant when you submit
When you submit an event, you confirm that:
- You have the right to submit the content you're submitting (text, images, links)
- The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- The event is real, legal, and safe for a general audience
- You're either the organizer or have permission from the organizer
You keep ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant Finger Lakes Event Guide a non-exclusive license to display it on the site and promote it through related channels (the Finger Lakes Effect newsletter, social media, related properties).
Event Boost (paid promotion)
An Event Boost costs $49 and includes:
- A spot labelled "Sponsored" on the Finger Lakes Event Guide, above the regular listings, until your event happens or for 30 days, whichever comes first.
- A line with a link promoting your event, labelled as sponsored, in one issue of the Finger Lakes Effect newsletter sent before your event. If your event is too soon for the next issue (each issue closes at noon on the Monday before its Wednesday send), we tell you before you pay, and the boost covers the Sponsored spot only.
You pay when you buy the boost. Your event still goes through our normal review, and if we don't approve it, we refund the full $49 automatically. We may also decline a boost and refund it while keeping your free listing.
A boost buys placement, not results. We don't guarantee views, clicks, ticket sales, or attendance, and we don't refund a boost because an event drew less attention than hoped. If you cancel your event after its boost has started, the boost is not refunded. If we fail to deliver what's described above, email [email protected] and we'll make it right.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Accurate information
We do our best to keep event listings accurate, but we can't verify every detail. Always confirm dates, times, prices, and ticket availability directly with the event organizer before making plans.
As-is, no warranties
The site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't promise the site will always be available, accurate, or error-free. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Finger Lakes Effect and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage that results from using the site or relying on information on it.
Acceptable use
Don't use the site to post spam, misleading content, events you have no connection to, or anything illegal. Don't scrape the site or use automated tools to submit events. We may block or remove accounts that violate these rules.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
