Privacy Policy

Finger Lakes Event Guide is a free community calendar operated by Finger Lakes Effect. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. If you use the site, you agree to the practices described here.

What we collect

We collect information in two ways:

• Information you give us. When you create an account or submit an event, we collect your name, email address, and the event details you provide (title, description, date, location, links, images).
• Payment information. If you buy an Event Boost, Stripe processes the payment. We keep your email address, the amount, and Stripe's reference for the payment so we can deliver the boost, refund it, or answer questions about it. We never see or store your card number; Stripe's own privacy policy covers the payment itself.
• Basic usage data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. This includes things like which pages are viewed, which device and browser are used, and a general geographic area. We do not link this data to your identity.

How we use it

• To publish the events you submit, after a brief review
• To contact you about your submission (approvals, questions, changes needed)
• To improve the site based on how visitors actually use it
• To enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers. The only third parties that see any of your data are the services we use to run the site (listed below).

Third-party service providers

We use third-party service providers to run the site, including analytics, email delivery, hosting, and payment processing (Stripe). These providers only receive the information they need to do their job and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose. We may change providers at any time without updating this policy.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of cookies for standard functions: keeping you logged in, remembering filter preferences, and letting Google Analytics measure visits. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features (like account login) may not work.

Your choices

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it at any time. Email [email protected] and we'll take care of it.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
